2002Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford
Organ Recital
J S Bach: G minor Fantasia and Fugue (BWV 542)
“David Ponsford’s performance of Bach’s G minor Fantasia and Fugue (BWV 542) exploded like a supernova. Here was an organist of alpha-plus class lending to the aspiring, dramatic figuration of the Fantasia and the ensuing fugal passion, an improvisatory rapture in which the long-dead composer’s heart seemed to beat again. Such art in the writing, such art in response, brings tears to the eyes.” The Oxford Times

With the London Gala Orchestra
“David Ponsford took centre stage for an exquisite performance of Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in A. A muted string accompaniment wrapped Ponsford’s playing in fine linen. Those long sweeping Bach phrases came through like tinkling reflections from the chandeliers. Even the Guildhall was in its element.” Bath Evening Chronicle
